Exceptional quality & craftsmanship. The PLNZ67 is a customized fit to my Nikon Z 6 body, which eliminates twisting & allows quick orientation from horizontal to vertical positioning on my Arca-Swiss compatible ball head attached to a tripod. It's lightweight yet strong and fits my Nikon Z 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Matt from Typical Kirk quality productI have purchased Kirk products for 10+ years and have never had an issue with any of them, so when this L bracket was announced I ordered one without hesitation. It has a high build quality and there is no play once it is firmly attached to the camera. They have included a little holder on the bottom which holds the included allen wrench so you always have it with you, a nice touch. The front edge of the bracket barely extends beyond the edge of the camera, so this should be one of the better options when dealing with clearance issues and the FTZ adapter.I am able to use this bracket with the FTZ adapter + plate, but it is a tight fit. Your ability to mount + unmount the FTZ adapter will depend on what QR plate you put on the FTZ, and what tripod head you use. If your head has thick jaws that grab the plate/bracket then it will interfere with the bottom of the FTZ adapter regardless of what plate/bracket you attach to the camera. This is a FTZ design decision(flaw) that Nikon left us with, so pick your tripod head wisely. I am using an Arca-Swiss p0 classic head and there is just a tiny gap when the FTZ is being twisted on before it locks in, but it does clear by about 1mm (see attached picture).Per Kirks recommendation, I am using the PZ-130 QR plate for the FTZ adapter. I dont believe this plate was actually designed for the FTZ, but that may be a blessing in disguise as when you mount it with the little lip facing the front of the lens the plate will not extend beyond the back of the FTZ adapter, so it will not present any additional clearance problems other than what you would have with the plain FTZ. Ive included a picture to show the clearance with a 14-24 2.8G mounted with the FTZ + PZ-130 with the BL-Z still on the camera.Using this BL-Z, a FTZ + PZ-130, and an Arca-Swiss p0 classic ballhead I am able to use the FTZ without removing the L bracket or the FTZ QR plate, but your success will depend on how thick the jaws on your head are. These FTZ clearance problems are something that all manufacturers will have to deal with, so I cant remove any points from this Kirk review for that.
